A Poisoned Chalice
During the last leg of the race towards Christmas, all gardening activities were brought to a grinding halt by a rare and unexpected event: In the space of 24 hours, at least ten inches of snow transformed the garden and park into a winter wonderland.
Unfortunately, as ever beauty comes at a price: several large evergreens suffered serious damage from the weight of the snow and will now have to be “repaired”. The roof of one of our fruit cages also collapsed, demanding some major repairs!
It did look pretty for two days, though…
